1. In what ways do your products reflect social groups or social issues? My short film User Not Found reflects the contemporary teenage demographic and social issue of digital communication/privacy. The characters in the film are a group of friends that are engaging in social interactions with each other; however, the majority of their time spent engaging in these social interactions is focused on their phones. Similar to most of the common behaviors of contemporary teens, the characters in the film use texting and social media to engage in social communication with one another, even when they are in the same physical location. The film portrays the characters engaged in social communication while using their phones, to emphasize how technology has changed the manner in which young people engage in social interaction. Additionally, User Not Found addresses the social issue of online anonymity/digital paranoia. The anonymous messages sent to the group are filled with personal/confident...

And...Scene

Image
After a pretty rough week, we have wrapped up everything. With filming taking an extraordinary amount of time and its hardships, it is safe to say we are impressed. We did very well with the major obstacles we faced during filming. Probably the biggest obstacle throughout this entire film being us not getting to 5 minutes after we "finished" filming. We did so good in finding another day to film more and get to that timing requirement. It took so much of our time but it was beyond worth it. We explored many different locations for filming that brought its own fun. From filming in different places of Nico's house, to heading to the mall. As well as being at a random restaurant at nearly 12 in the morning, it brought new memories and brought us closer. As for editing, everything went fairly smooth. Smooth in the sense that there were no real obstacles that had to be dealt with. We successfully split editing into 2 days and were very productive. We got everything done for e...

Deep Dive Into Websites

Image
As I mentioned previously we needed a website to complete this task. First off, I did my research on some movies. The movies I researched were not exactly genre, but followed the same genre we had. 2 main movies I researched was the Dark Knight and The Purge. I took a deep dive into google and searched which movies had official websites for advertisement, and these were the 2 favorites. I took some inspiration from other movies in general as well and how to properly set up a website. This was perfect for advertising and did help me a lot. However the other issue was where I were to actually create my site. So yet again I went to google and searched the best website generators. And so I came through one which I did really like. It was called wicks websites. I researched more about the website and it seemed pretty legit, so I notified the group chat immediately. They ended up agreeing with the website so I got straight to work. It honestly took me a bit to figure out and after an ho...

Postcard Time

Image
Hello again bloggers. Now that we have started our website, we also decided that we will start on postcards. As postcards is also part of our final project. We did end up hanging out for the website. However we were not quite done yet. It is taking us much longer than usual but it is okay as there is no rush. We need to make sure that we take our time so everything looks good. Anyway following on with postcards, we thought this would take a shorter amount of time. So while we hung out when we did the website, we started postcards right away. However we were right, the postcard is way shorter. This shorter time period that it would take us was more convenient to actually get the project done faster. The 2 in charge of the postcard mainly was Nico and Evan. While me and Sebastian worked on the website, they did postcards. With our new working title, "USER NOT FOUND" the designs were great. We had more variety with this title than the previous one. And so we started researching...

Changes That Were Made

Image
As the end of our filming and editing came about, we realized a couple changes needed to be done. Now this did not really regard major changes in editing or re-filming in general. The biggest change made I would say was our working title. We decided to change it from the original "SECRET WIPEOUT" to "USER NOT FOUND". We did this because it honestly just sounded better, and made a bit more sense regarding the film itself. As well, when we did fonts and added designs to it for the film, the new title looked so much better than before. It felt more suspenseful and mysterious. Further leaving our audience puzzled on who this anonymous killer could be. Also, we decided to change some of the fonts for the other titles in the opening sequence. We all kind of agreed that the font originally was not the best, and we could find better. Yet again, we did quick run overs of the film to see what could be enhanced more in order for the film to look better. Me and Sebastian played...

Finishing Editing

Image
With the first day of editing going successful, we met up the following day. We quickly decided that this day has to be quick but efficient as we had a short time schedule. The goal was to very obviously conclude editing today so we can finalize our film portion of this task. In doing so, we quickly got to work. Since the sound and clip-condensing was done the day prior, we moved along with the opening sequence. Now just doing the opening sequence did take up most of our time. We had to come up with multiple ideas towards where we are going to integrate each title. This did spark multiple debates as we all had different ideas. As well, it did take a bit to come up with agreements. However in the process of editing we encountered a slight obstacle. We were missing an establishing shot... Thankfully it was only an establishing shot which is honestly the quickest fix ever. Just a simple 2 second shot of outside the house most of filming was once night hit. This was vital for the titl...
