Title Design: Final Task
Fonts: There will be some simple and bold fonts such as Condensed Bold, Semi Bold, and Black Italic. The use of these different fonts will make the titles pop or show them boldly for the audience to see clearly. Another main point of these fonts is to be eye-catching, as opposed to something in the background meaning that it is the main focus of each scene.
Color: Depending on where and when the scene is filmed, the title sequences will be in different colors so that they do not blend in with the backdrop. For example, with a sky scene with a blue and white backdrop, we will use something dark, such as a bold black. And then for something darker, such as a black background, the title will be a lighter color, such as white, red, green, etc. Different coloring will be essential for the title sequences to not blend in with any backdrops.
Size: Now for the size, the size of each title sequence will depend on how important the title is. If it is the main title of the movie, then that title will be bigger than the title of "produced by." The main movie title will take up around half of the main screen, and smaller titles like produced by, edited by, etc., will be in smaller sizes, taking up a small portion of the main screen.
Working Title: We decided on the title of our film to be "A Strangers Gaze." This is because the stalking starts from the stalker giving a certain stare to the one being stalked. This "gaze" haunts the victim therefore why we chose this to be our title.
How it enters and leaves: The title sequences will enter in many ways throughout the film. One of them being integrated into normal life activities. Another way that title sequences would be added is just having a particular scene where the screen goes dark, and the title pops up on the dark screen. There will also be shots where moving objects such as cars will take up the focus and leave the screen with the camera staying still and showing a title sequence in the backdrop. As well as panning, the camera can pan towards the sky after a set scene and show a titles sequence. Also, another set scene with dialogue can be shown and as they walk off the camera will have a title sequence overlaying the prior scene. Lastly, the title sequence can be shown in a creative way such as a phone contact with main focus on the phone. When the title sequences leave the scene, it will simply just be a cut to the next scene. There will not be any special transitions to complicate the title sequences leaving each scene.
How long will each title be on screen: The length period of each title sequence will vary. But typically, it should not be for more than three full seconds. The time will be around two to three seconds for each title sequence, not including the title. The title will show for the most amount of time, which will be around five to six seconds.
