Title Design

Fonts: We will use a total of 3 fonts, Condensed Bold, Fact Black Itallic, and Semi Bold. We chose these 3 fonts due to our genre, they fit in perfectly to the type of look we want, maximizing the feel of the titles, contributing to our thriller/suspense genre. However, different fonts will be used for specific titles.

‘Color: The colors will vary depending on the titles, and the background of certain scenes. We decided to primarily go with 3 different colors. Such colors being red, black, and white. For the 2 base colors being black and white for certain titles, it all depends on the possible background colors of scenes. Black and white are the easiest colors to make titles visible when backgrounds are a mix of different colors and shades. These 2 base colors will efficiently be used to make the titles visible and legible for the audience. As for red, we chose this to be the main color of our work title. We chose red because it perfectly resembles the color one could imagine for a thriller film, settling in the suspense and tension for the audience, setting the tone.

Size: The main title will be the biggest title during the film, due to the importance of the main title. On the topic of importance, however important such titles are, it will result in their respectable size. As well, depending on where the titles will be placed, or where they will appear, the size will be matched to where it is most convenient.

Working Title: The working title we have decided on is “SECRET WIPEOUT”. This is due to the suspense and sense of mysteriousness this name brings to the thriller stereotype of our movie. This appeals to the audience by making them think of what could happen, as well as having them not overthink it too much.

How it Enters/Leaves: This will determine on a variety of things. Determined by the actions that are occurring during the scenes, and the importance of the titles, as well as the timings. All titles will be integrated into the opening sequence of the film. The way they entered and exited will be through smooth transitions on actions that occur, or appearing on future actions/movements made in the next shot as well. Catching some by surprise, all while being legible and appealing. As for the working title, it will be faded in until it is completely visible.

Timing of Titles: The timings of these titles determine on the importance of the titles still. Titles like the actors and whatnot will be on for around a second and a half to two seconds. This will be to clearly show the audience such titles, while not keeping them on for too long interfering with the sequence itself. As for the working titles, and other important titles like “directed by” for example, it will be on for longer, around 3-5 seconds so it gives the audience time to take in the titles, think about them, and set the stage for how the film will unfold.
